Latina Health Summit a success!
COLOR convened young Latinas from around the country, working with each other and their families to develop a culturally proficient, comprehensive sexuality curriculum. Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR) exists to organize a sisterhood of Latinas through education and advocacy for reproductive rights and quality healthcare.
Fundamentally, COLOR believes that if the mind, body and spirit of a Latina are strong she will be empowered to make healthy decisions concerning her body, and ultimately, her life. A component of this strength is the awareness, knowledge, and kills to take action on issues that affect the health of Latinas and their families.
In addition to the Health Summit, COLOR also collaborates with the Latina Initiative to involve Latinas in the 2006 election process, as a part of the larger goal of promoting political involvement and social justice in the community. This past April COLOR co-hosted the Latina Immigration Round Table, bringing to the forefront perspectives of a Latina immigrant on issues such as immigration law, family reunification, domestic violence, and healthcare.
