Check out Third Wave’s 2009 Grant Docket!
Third Wave funds organizations across the nation through the Reproductive Health and Justice Initiative.
We offer financial support in the form of grants, technical assistance in the form of trainings, workshops, and connections with experts, as well as networking opportunities for young leaders to meet and collaborate with one another to build a larger movement.
We accept proposals for projects which benefit, target, are devised by, and led by young women and transgender activists between the ages of 15 and 30. We especially look for programs or organizations that focus on the needs of low-income communities, people with disabilities, immigrants, LGBT communities, and people of color.
In addition to our regular grant-making cycles, which are usually twice a year, we provide discretionary funds in each of the two areas to address unexpected or immediate need. For example in 2002, we established the 9/11 Fund in response to organizing led by young women after the events of 9/11. We also donated $10,000 to the National Network of Abortion Funds for women in need as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
Sistas on the Rise and Casa Atabex Aché were highlighted in the New York Times for leveraging new grant dollars to strengthen their Bronx communities.
In December 2006, Third Wave celebrated 10 years of activism and philanthropy led by young women and trans youth. Learn more about the event…
