Check out Third Wave’s 2007 Grant Dockets!
Third Wave funds organizations across the nation in two areas: The organizing and Advocacy Fund, and the Reproductive Health and Justice Initiative.
We offer financial support in the form of grants, technical assistance in the form of trainings, workshops, and connections with experts, as well as networking opportunities for young leaders to meet and collaborate with one another to build a larger movement.
We accept proposals for projects which benefit, target, are devised by, and led by young women and transgender activists between the ages of 15 and 30. We especially look for programs or organizations that focus on the needs of low-income communities, people with disabilities, immigrants, LGBT communities, and people of color.
In addition to our regular grant-making cycles, which are usually twice a year, we provide discretionary funds in each of the two areas to address unexpected or immediate need. For example in 2002, we established the 9/11 Fund in response to organizing led by young women after the events of 9/11. We also donated $10,000 to the National Network of Abortion Funds for women in need as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
The Birth Attendants were featured on Making Contact , a program of the National Radio Project. The segment is called “Lockdown on Life: Stories from Women Behind Bars” and was aired on January 3, 2007. Listen online at radioproject.org Learn more…
