Philanthropic institutions play a crucial role in movements for social change, and Third Wave believes it is important for these institutions to reflect values for social change. Thus, Third Wave helps transform the values and practice of mainstream and progressive philanthropy in order to ensure a more equitable and accountable distribution of resources in the fight for social justice.
Each year, Third Wave partners with 7 other organizations to put on the Momentum Conference.
Want to find out more about this year’s conference in March? Here is what our partner, Tides Foundation had to say:
What a weekend! Momentum 2006 was full of connection and action. A diverse community of donors and activists came together and worked to strengthen the progressive movement. At the conference, we used concrete funding strategies to address real world issues and accelerate positive social change.
Donors and other progressive leaders challenged each other to think critically about the work they are doing. This conference was a unique opportunity for authentic dialogue between donors and field leaders and it is only the beginning of continuing strategic partnerships.
